Materials: US #8 (5 mm) needles (dpn's, 2 circ or 1 long circ for magic loop) Use whichever method you prefer for knitting in the round.
Paton's SWS or any heavy worsted weight yarn.
Gauge: 17 sts and 24 rows in a 4" square.
Special Stitch: Tuck 5 rows. Insert needle knit wise through st, count 5 rows down and pick up st. Knit these 2 sts together. This creates a ridge (foot) that will keep the bottle stable.
Directions:
Cast on 32 st. Join in a round marking beginning of round. Continue in K2, P2 ribbing for 10 rows. Next row, *k4, M1, repeat from * around (40 sts). Body Pattern st: Round 1: *Hold 2 sts to the front, k2, k2 sts from holder, k4, repeat from * around. Rounds 2-4: Knit next 3 rows even. Round 5: *K4, hold 2 sts to the back, k2, k2 sts from holder, repeat from * around. Rounds 6-8: Knit next 3 rows even. Repeat rounds 1-8, 4 times and then knit rounds 1-4 one more time. *K3, K2tog, repeat from * around (32 sts). Knit 2 more rounds even. Foot: *K1, tuck 5 rows, repeat from * around. *K2, K2tog, repeat from * around. *K1, K2tog, repeat from * around. K2tog around. Cut yarn, draw through sts and pull tight. Weave ends in.
